Urban Lines (市區綫, URL) can refer to the following from the narrowest to the broadest sense:
- Lines that are operated by Urban Line M-Trains: Kwun Tong Line, Tsuen Wan Line, Island Line, Tseung Kwan O Line (some netizens called these lines "The Four Urban Lines", "The Guan Tsuen Hong Kong General" or "Guan Tsuen Island General")
- All routes applicable to MTR City Ticket: Kwun Tong Line, Tsuen Wan Line, Island Line, Tseung Kwan O Line, South Island Line (MTR Metropolitan Ticket will be used after the launch), and it is also the definition of the term "Urban Line" in the current internal train operation of MTR
- The route of the former railway, except Airport Express and Ngong Ping 360 (used before gate area merger), September 28 2008 into a gate area
- Heavy rail routes of MTR, except Airport Express (used after Gate Area Merge), become one Gate Area
- According to MTR's "Ticket Issuing Conditions", Urban lines include the Island Line, Kwun Tong Line, Tsuen Wan Line, Tung Chung Line, Tseung Kwan O Line, Disneyland Resort Line, East Rail Line, Tuen Ma Line and South Island Line. [1]
There are multiple versions of MTR's internal interpretation of "Urban Line", from DUAT Lines (Disneyland Resort Line, Urban Lines, Airport, Tung Chung) can be seen, and the term "Urban Lines" sometimes only refers to "Kwun Tong, Tsuen Wan, and Islands". It is subdivided into K&T (Kwun Tong Line and Tsuen Wan Line) and I&T (Island Line and Tseung Kwan O Line). After the South Island Line was opened to traffic, I&T was renamed IS&T, which belonged to the same group as Island Line and Tseung Kwan O Line, and was included in the "Urban Lines" in terms of train operation.
