Tin Wing Stop (天榮站) is a stop on the MTR Light Rail located in Tin Shui Wai New Town, between Central Park Towers on Tin Yan Road and Shap Pat Heung Rural Committee Kung Yik She Primary School and Queen Elizabeth Secondary School Old Boys' Association Secondary School on Tin Shing Road, close to Central Park Towers and the Harbour Plaza Resort City, which is the Tin Shui Wai Town Centre, and is located in Fare Zone 4.
Tin Wing Stop, formerly known as Tin Shui Wai Terminus, was opened as the terminus of the Light Rail Transit Tin Shui Wai Extension with six platforms. When the Tin Shui Wai Reserved Area Extension, Tin Shui Wai Phase IV Extension and the West Rail opened in 2003, the name of the stop was changed to avoid confusion with other stops/stations in the area.
Due to the impact of the property development above Tin Wing Stop, platforms 1 to 5 have been demolished and MTR has constructed a temporary platform 7 opposite to the original platform 6 to replace them, and the current platform layout is no different from that of a normal Light Rail stop. The superstructure of the superstructure is expected to be completed in 2024, and the removed platforms will be reprovisioned at the base of the superstructure at that time.

Platform usage[]
There are currently two platforms at Tin Wing Station: Platform 6 was added when the Tin Shui Wai Extension Phase 4 (south of Tin Wing Road) was opened; Platforms 2 to 5 were terminus parking platforms at that time, but after the opening of the new extension, they became northbound platforms or terminus platforms, which have been demolished due to the construction work; Platform 1 was added in conjunction with the Phase 4 of the Extension, so that vehicles arriving from Ginza could drop off passengers or make stops at Platform 1, and then turn around and return to Ginza; and Platform 7 was a temporary platform added in 2017 to tie in with property development works.

Track Layout[]
There are two loops at Tin Wing Stop, the southern one (entering from the mainline) was first used in 1995 when the third section of the Tin Shui Wai Extension was opened, but the portion entering from the southbound track (i.e., the section used by the former Route 761) has been removed due to the dismantling of platforms 1 to 5; the northern loop (returning to the mainline) was built to tie in with the fourth section of the Tin Shui Wai Extension, which can only be used to reach the southbound mainline, and is not used by any of the routes at the moment. In the initial version of the Light Rail reorganisation plan in 2003, this loop and the associated existing Platform 1 were intended for use by 751 (from Shan King North to this station). This loop was also removed for the superstructure works.
As the stop was used as a terminus at that time, after the station was converted into an intermediate station, northbound vehicles had to go through half of the roundabout and turn into the former terminus platform to pick up and drop off passengers, which was a more circuitous route than the southbound one. However, after the commissioning of Platform 7, the intermediate station route will switch to use this platform, and will no longer enter the loop and use the terminus platform.

Transportation[]
History[]
This station opened on 26 March 1995 as Tin Shui Wai Terminus (天水圍總站) for the third section of the Tin Shui Wai Extension (Tin Shui to Tin Wing). At that time, platforms 1 and 6 and the northern loop were not yet in place, and the current platforms 2 to 5 were numbered 1 to 4.[2] Trains terminating at this stop would turn around at the current southern roundabout before entering the terminus platforms to drop off and pick up passengers after departing from Chestwood Stop.
With the imminent opening of the West Rail in 2003, the station was renamed Tin Wing Stop (天榮站) on 1 August to avoid confusion with the new Light Rail Tin Shui Wai Stop.

Future developments[]
Tin Wing Stop property project[]
The planning application for the property development on Tin Wing Stop was already approved by the Town Planning Board in 2001, and the building plans of the property development project were also approved by the Buildings Department in 2009, so the planning and building plans of the property development project have been completed legal procedures and enter the implementation stage.
According to the master development blueprint approved by the Town Planning Commission, the property development above Tin Wing Stop includes 4 buildings with a height of 43 floors, including a 3-story platform for Light Rail Stop, a parking lot, a clubhouse and a platform garden The entire project provides a total of 1,600 residential units with an average unit area of about 57 square meters. There are also 287 parking spaces for private cars and 25 parking spaces for motorcycles. [3]
Earlier, in response to local residents' concerns about the impact of the development project on nearby air circulation, the MTR Corporation conducted an air ventilation assessment and suggested setting up vents on the clubhouse floor to help improve the surrounding environment of the property development (including the surrounding four schools), these measures have been reflected in the revised building plans. [4]
MTR approved the Tin Wing Stop project to SHKP Development in February 2015. The number of units increased by more than 20% from the original 1,600 units to 1,938 units, and the average unit size shrank from 613 square feet to 506 square feet. [5][6]
MTR has built a temporary platform opposite Platform 6 of Tin Wing Stop (Platform 7[7]), for 705, 751, 751P trains towards Tin Yuet and Chestwood. The temporary platform was put into use on 8 January 2017. Except for platform 6, the rest of the platforms were be dismantled and the original site was used for superstructure development; after the superstructure project is completed, platforms 1-5 will be reset here to facilitate U-turns for trains in case of emergency.
Platform subsidence[]
The Tin Wing Stop superstructure project started the foundation work in September 2017. By October, it was discovered that the Stop 7 platform had slightly subsided. The MTR immediately asked the developer to suspend the use of vibration methods to carry out slab pile engineering near the platform. The project resumed later, but by 8 June 2018, after the developer completed the grouting work to control the settlement, the settlement of the platform reached the stoppage index of 80mm; the developer then carried out further reinforcement works, but the platform continued to settle until 28 June, the subsidence rate exceeded 80 mm, and the MTR once again requested to suspend the project. [8]
The MTR released the latest settlement data as of 1 February 2019, and found that Light Rail Tin Wing Stop had the most settlement, reaching 95 mm, an increase of 2 mm compared to the data released in January. Regarding the deterioration of Tin Wing Stop settlement, the MTR spokesperson said that the Tin Wing Stop property development project has been suspended since late June last year, and the settlement level at the monitoring position of the platform has maintained a slight increase due to factors such as weather, water level, and humidity. falling, belonging to a stable level. The Buildings Department and the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department have confirmed that the platform structure and track conditions are safe. The MTR has also been strengthening monitoring on the smoothness of the track, as well as the mutual height and distance between the track, platform and overhead cables, and determined that the condition of the railway is not affected and meets operational safety standards. The spokesman continued to point out that registered construction professionals are actively exploring construction methods and mitigation measures that can effectively reduce platform settlement, and the relevant sites will be allowed to resume work only after ensuring that the safety of railway facilities and operations will not be affected by subsequent works. [9]
On 23 April 2019, there were media reports that the developer hoped to resume work as soon as possible, and applied to the government to relax the settlement stoppage index to 120mm. The government reviewed the mitigation measures proposed by the structural engineer, and revised the pile and excavation design accordingly. The construction method intends to approve the resumption of work, that is, the settlement standard will be relaxed by up to five times from the original 20 mm. According to sources, Sun Hung Kai Properties, which is responsible for the development of the Tin Wing Stop property, has applied to the Buildings Department to relax the subsidence suspension index, and learned that the Department intends to accept its application and will approve the resumption of work. The source also pointed out that following the relaxation of the subsidence index of the convention and exhibition stop, the department will relax the subsidence index of other stops such as the Tin Wing Stop. The discussion on the proposed review and revision is nearing completion, and relevant information is expected to be announced within a few days. [10]
On 9 May 2019, the Yuen Long District Council Traffic and Transport Committee held a meeting to discuss the settlement of Tin Wing Stop. The Buildings Department stated that as of the 7th of this month, the latest settlement of the platform was 96 millimeters, which is 1 millimeter more than the further settlement announced by the MTR until May 1. At the same time, the developer Sun Hung Kai Properties stated in the meeting that the suspension index proposed to the Buildings Department was nearly doubled from 80 mm to 150 mm; and the Buildings Department also quoted MTR that the revised suspension index "will not affect the safety of railway operations". [11]
On 24 May 2019, the Buildings Department announced that it accepted the request for resumption of the Tin Wing Stop adjacent project, and the site can resume work in stages starting from the 31st of that month. At the same time, the Buildings Department accepted a significant revision to the suspension index to 150 mm, which was nearly double the original 80 mm and 6.5 times higher than the original index of 20 mm.
