Platforms[]
Tin Shui Wai Station has two platforms arranged in an island-type platform arrangement with platform screen doors installed during the construction of the station. Each platform can accommodate a 9-car train, and only the first 8-car train is currently in use, so that the driver's cab is aligned with the staff area to facilitate various train service arrangements to be carried out in the staff area as far as possible, and to facilitate the conductor to carry on the tradition of the West Rail (i.e. the conductor will step out of the driver's cab to ensure that the doors of the train have been properly closed after pressing the door-closing system before he or she steps back into the driver's cab to continue driving the train).
In addition, there is a siding on the west side of the platform with an emergency platform for train deployment. At present, special trains running from this station during peak hours on weekdays will depart from the depot without passengers to this siding to standby for boarding at Platform 2 during departure time.

Concourse[]
The concourse of this station is located on Level C and is the longest of all MTR stations at approximately 460 metres in length. There are also a number of shops in the concourse[3], and most of the shop space was located in the paid area of the station during the early years of the station. In the early years of the station, most of the shop spaces were located in the paid area of the station. Since 2011, the MTR has reorganised the shop tenant mix of Tin Shui Wai Station to increase the variety of shops, and the number of shop spaces in the station has increased by nearly 50. As the shop spaces in the old stations were relatively small in size, some shop operators had to rent two shop spaces at the same time and open them up in order to meet their operational needs.
Although the concourse is spacious, MTR has never provided seats in the concourse for the public to take a rest, and in the past, many people would choose to sit on the glass-walled floor of the station to take a rest. In the past, many people would choose to sit on the platforms of the glass walls of the stations for rest. Starting from March 2021, MTR, claiming that there have been complaints about the impact on the environment of the stations, has installed chains in the station concourses near the glass walls to prevent the public from sitting down to have a rest, however, there are some views from the public that the chains are not aesthetically pleasing, and some netizens even consider that the relevant measures are inhumane and mean.[4]
Exits[]
Tin Shui Wai Station has a total of seven exits, with Exits A-D each connected by a set of footbridges, and Exit E connected by escalators to the Light Rail platform below the station.
Exit A was originally earmarked for connection with a future property development project above the station. However, after the Government rezoned the site to HOS housing estate, Ping Yan Court, no change was made to the structure of the original reserved location. After the completion of Ping Yan Court in October 2018, MTR has not updated the exit directions until after the District Council members' fight[5] that the name of the exit was changed from "Ping Ha Road (South)" to "Ping Yan Court" in late March 2019.

Ridership[]
Tin Shui Wai Station is the only heavy rail station in Tin Shui Wai New Town. Therefore, during peak hours from Mondays to Fridays, many students use this station to take the Tuen Ma Line to travel to and from Tuen Mun and Yuen Long districts, and commuters use this station to travel to the urban areas of Hong Kong and Kowloon. During weekends and holidays, many passengers use this station to interchange between Shenzhen Bay Port, Lau Fau Shan, Hong Kong Wetland Park and Futian Port. In addition, this station is also an interchange station for the Light Rail, thus many people interchange from the Light Rail to the Tuen Ma Line every day, so the passenger flow at this station is extremely high.
