Station History[]
Temporary station[]
The Chengquan Road Temporary Station opened in 1983 is the predecessor of "Tai Wai Station". Its prototype can be traced back to the temporary railway station set up in Tai Wai due to two different circumstances in the early years.
Chegongmiao Temporary Station[]
Kowloon-Canton Railway (England Section) At the beginning of its opening, the Railway Bureau will set up temporary stations around the current site of Tai Wai Station during some festivals (such as the third day of the Lunar New Year) to facilitate urban believers to visit Che Kung Temple to pray for blessings. It is said to be the predecessor of the current Tai Wai Station. [3]
Temporary Station for Bridge Collapse Accident (1976)[]
1976August 25 During Typhoon Allen's attack on Hong Kong, heavy rains washed away the No. 11 Bridge across the Shing Mun River to the east of Tai Wai Station, causing train services to be disrupted. Kowloon-Canton Railway (English section) is divided into two sections, the south and the north.
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Bureau has set up a temporary station on the west bank of the Shing Mun River in Tai Wai (the current site of Tai Wai Station) as a temporary terminal for the southern section of the railway. After the northbound train arrives at this temporary station, all passengers must get off and transfer to emergency trains. Take the shuttle bus to Sha Tin Station to take the northbound train in the northern section, and vice versa. [4]
The 40-day reconstruction of Bridge No. 11 was completed on October 4 in the same year, and the train service returned to normal immediately, and the Tai Wai Temporary Station was cancelled.
Wood Station (1983)[]
Due to the upcoming electrification of Kowloon-Canton Railway, the number of passengers in Sha Tin District will increase greatly, and a new station needs to be built to divert passenger traffic. KCRC decided to build a permanent station in Tai Wai. However, in order to provide railway services to a large number of residents in the southern part of Sha Tin New Town as soon as possible, the company set up a temporary station on the opposite side of the permanent station before the completion of the permanent station to relieve the urgent need.
The Tai Wai Temporary Station is located in the southeast of the junction of Cunnan Road, Chengquan Road and Chengyun Road, near Wenli Pavilion. It is built along Chengquan Road and faces the existing Tai Wai Station across the Shing Mun River. The temporary station opened in 1983August 15, one month after full electrification (July 15). Due to its temporary nature, the various facilities of the station are crude and simple. The platform is made of wood and can only accommodate six or nine electrified train cars. The ticket office and toilet are container rights , so it is called "Wooden Station". [5]Having said that, there is still a parking lot to the southeast of the station, which is convenient for nearby residents to park and transfer to the railway. [6]
The temporary station has two platforms and can only accommodate 9-car trains. During the "Wood Station" period, there were not many station staff at Tai Wai Station, and the station manager of Sha Tin Station was under the management of it at the same time (until the 1990s).
Tai Wai Station[]
After the opening of "Wood Station", KCRC immediately started planning to build a permanent Tai Wai station 300 meters south of it, and the construction project started in 1984. Since the station hall is located under the rails, the rails around the site of the station had to be temporarily moved eastward to free up the platform for construction. During this period, the nearby road sections were changed to single-lane traffic four times. [7]
The new Tai Wai Station, which cost about HK$60 million, was opened in 1986April 23. The lobby covers an area of about 450 square meters; the "Tai Wai Wooden Station" that has been in use for nearly three years immediately completed its historical mission . The opening ceremony of the new Tai Wai Station was officiated by KCRC Chairman Gerry Forsgate, General Manager Peter Quick, Regional Council Chairman Cheung Yan-lung and Sha Tin District Council Chairman Ng Chan-lam. [8]
The design of the new Tai Wai station is similar to that of other electrified train stations at that time. The platform configuration is as follows (excluding the exits on the platform):
Platform 1: Kowloon-Canton Railway (English section) Lo Wu direction (door on the left) → |
←2 platform: Kowloon-Canton Railway (English Section)Kowloon direction (left car door) |
In order to improve the distribution of passengers waiting on the platform, increase the utilization rate of front-end digital cards, and facilitate passengers south of Mei Tin Road, KCRC spent HK$41 million to improve Tai Wai Station in 1993, including building a new exit on the ground, and then The station platform is connected by a high-load escalator, and the platform is equipped with 8 turnstiles, automatic ticket vending machine and ticket office; At the front end, the platform towards Kowloon is also extended by about one card. [9]
Template:Maanshan RailwayDevelopment[]
Cooperating with Template:Maanshan Railway south terminus site selection Tai Wai Station, this station was expanded during the period from 2001 to the opening to traffic, including new Template:Maanshan Railway platform and expanded lobby, the station color of this station The system is changed from the original green to the existing blue. Tai Wai Happy City, which is located at the current platform of Tuen Ma Line, will be closed due to station expansion.
Platform renovation[]
2007December 2ndMerger of the two railways, MTR made renovations at this station, for example, a large The KCRC logo was replaced with the MTR logo.
At the end of 2008, MTR Corporation carried out relatively low-cost refurbishment works for the non-transit station platforms of East Rail Line to cover up the dilapidated appearance of the East Rail Line station platforms. The project includes re-assigning the theme colors of each East Rail Line station, adding station representative plants, turning over platform beams and pillars with platform-colored paint, pasting patterns with station theme plants, buildings near the station, and station names Calligraphy wallpaper, add or replace it with MTR upright station signs, route maps, signs, notices, etc. The color scheme of this station is dark blue (based on the newly built and renovated parts in 2004), the theme plants are tulips, and the streetscape is Che Kung Temple in Sha Tin. Since the former KCR upright stop sign on the platform is the same dark blue color as the station, the MTR Corporation did not replace the new stop sign at that time (on the contrary, the upright stop sign of Sheung Shui Station was Yes), and the horizontal lines and circles representing East Rail Line were not affixed.
The vertical stop sign of this station was MTRization in 2010December.
Platform Gate[]
The installation of platform gates on the Tuen Ma Line platform of this station started in November 2014 and was completed and put into operation in February 2016.
Accidents over the years[]
- 2014March 30, during the period when the black rainstorm warning signal was in effect, due to heavy rain, this station is connected with Kowloon Tong Station, Tsuen Wan West Station, Yellow Daisen Station was once flooded.

Usage[]
There are many residences and schools near Tai Wai Station, and it is also one of the interchange stations of East Rail Line and Tuen Ma Line, so there is a huge flow of people at this station during peak hours. During the morning rush hours before the opening of Tuen Ma Line Phase I, southbound East Rail Line trains need to receive passengers transferring from Ma On Shan Line at this station. ]] to Kowloon Tong Station, you may have to wait for more than one train to board the train. This section is also the busiest section of East Rail Line.
In addition, this station is closer to Sha Tin Che Kung Temple than Che Kung Temple Station, and there is no need for multiple transfers from other districts such as Kowloon. Therefore, during large-scale festivals, this station has a large number of passengers and needs to be controlled.
After Tuen Ma Line Phase 1 is opened to traffic, this station will become the interchange station of Tuen Ma Line Phase 1 and East Rail Line. However, since the extension of Tuen Ma Line Phase 1 is built in accordance with the requirements of the full opening of the Template:Shatin to Central Line "Original Plan", there will be no large-scale expansion projects at this station. Add railings to the passage between the platform and platform 3 to separate the flow of people in two directions, and change one escalator on platform 3 to go up, and one escalator on platform 4 to go down.
After Tuen Ma Line Phase 1 (Template:Shazhong Line Tai Wai to Hung Hom Section Tai Wai to Kai Tak Station) opens to traffic, residents along Ma On Shan can use Diamond Hill Station instead, and transfer to Kwun Tong Line to Kowloon East and Hong Kong Island East. In addition, passengers at stations along East Rail Line can transfer to Tuen Ma Line Phase 1 at this station and transfer to Kowloon East and Hong Kong Island East at Diamond Hill Station. Residents of Hin Keng can take Tuen Ma Line Phase 1 at Hin Keng Station and transfer to Kwun Tong Line at Diamond Hill Station to each station in the urban area (to Kowloon Tong Station, you should transfer to East Rail Line at this station or use the old method (it will be faster), instead of taking the transfer minibus to this station to transfer to East Rail Line round trip In the urban area, the situation of Sardine on East Rail Line from this station to Kowloon Tong Station has eased slightly.
After Tuen Ma Line (Template:Shazhong Line Tai Wai to Hung Hom Section Kai Tak Station to Hung Hom Station) is fully open to traffic, this station and Hung Hom Station will be East Rail Line and the interchange station of Tuen Ma Line. East Rail Line from this station to Kowloon Tong Station The congestion situation has been further eased.
After East Rail Line crossing the sea section is opened to traffic, this station will become Tuen Ma Line (formerly known as the East-West Corridor) and East Rail Line (formerly known as the North-South Corridor) two strategic railway corridors One of the meeting points, the other is Hung Hom Station.
East Rail Line Platform Gates[]
To cooperate with Template:Shatin to Central Line project, East Rail Line to replace new trains and to ensure the safety of waiting passengers, the East Rail Line platform at this station will be equipped with a 1.7-meter-high automatic platform gate , the project is currently in progress and is expected to be completed within this year at the earliest. The new platform gate will be provided by Shenzhen Fangda Automation System Co., Ltd., and it is the first time that the MTR has adopted a domestic platform gate.
