Quarry Bay Station (鰂魚涌站) is a station of the MTR in the eastern district of Hong Kong Island. It was built at the foot of Braemar Hill west of the junction of King's Road and Finney Street in Quarry Bay. It is on the Island Line and the Tseung Kwan O Line (formerly part of the Kwun Tong Line) interchange station. This station is the closest railway station to the Eastern Harbour Crossing. It is also the only station on the Island Line with a lobby on the ground. It is currently the fourth deepest station of the MTR, with a depth of 42 meters.

Station symbol[]

The station color of Quarry Bay Station is blue-green.

Like other Island Line underground stations and Tseung Kwan O Line stations, the curved lacquered panels of the platforms are printed with the station name "鲗𩵋流" in calligraphy written by Au Kit-Tung, a retired architect of the MTR Corporation ("𩵋" is an ancient character for "fish") to reduce the pressure on passengers on the circular tube platform. [1]When the Island Line opened to traffic, Au Kit-tong pointed out that the calligraphy at Quarry Bay Station, "There are like quarry fish swimming in the water", was one of his more satisfactory works. Platform[]

There are 2 platform island at the top and bottom of this station, which was the deepest platform of MTR from the ground at that time, reaching 42 meters.

Each floor provides 2 platforms, and synthesizes island platform. The upper level is Island Lineplatform, which has been in use since the opening of the station; the lower level is Tseung Kwan O Line (formerly Kwun Tong Line) platform, during the Kwun Tong Line Eastern Crossing Extension, the line was only used when it was open to traffic. Except for platform No. 4, the remaining 3 platforms are generally straight, and all platforms have installed platform screen doors.

There is an original U-turn track on the west side of platform on the lower level of this station, and North Point Station is the terminal station on Kwun Tong Line before 27 September 2001, letting the Kwun Tong Line train drop off the passengers on the first platform No. 3 (now platform No. 4), and then it will drive into the track and turn around to the opposite platform on board. After the completion of the "Quarry Bay Interchange Station Congestion Relief Project", the Kwun Tong Line was changed to North Point Station as the terminus on September 27, 2001. The track was closed in November of the same year after being out of service.

The two-story platform is designed in a cross shape, with a floor in the middle and 3 passages connecting the upper and lower floors. The upper platform is connected by 5 passages, while the lower platform is connected by only 3 passages, and the overlapping parts of the 2 floors platform are also connected by 2 stairs and 1 elevator . Due to the distance between the two floors, it takes more than 5 minutes for passengers to walk through the transfer channel to transfer to another train, so this station is one of the stations that stipulate that passengers cannot enter the gate 7 minutes before the last train leaves ( The other is Expo Station), which is different from the 5 minutes of the rest of the stations.

Since Platform No. 4 of Quarry Bay Station was a dedicated platform for drop-off and unmanned passengers before the completion of the "Quarry Bay Interchange Station Congestion Relief Project", no advertising light boxes were installed on the tunnel wall of the platform like other stations; Even if the platform becomes a platform towards North Point after completion, there is no reinstallation.

Concourse[]

Quarry Bay Station Model Lane Concourse

There are two lobbies at this station, namely the larger "Concourse (East)" (hereinafter referred to as "King's Road Concourse") located at King's Road, and the smaller lobby "Concourse (West)" ("Model Lane Concourse"). The former is on the ground opposite to the junction of King’s Road and Finney Street, with exits A and B; Located at Exit C of Model Lane.

The two concourses are not directly connected by passages within the station area, and passengers have to pass through the Hong Kong Island Line platform level to go to and from the two concourses within the gate area.

The size of the King's Road lobby is similar to that of a general subway station lobby. The lobby has two floors above ground, which are the ticket lobby on the ground floor and the footbridge at Exit B on the U1 floor. The lobby of Mofanli is located on the ground floor, and is connected to the platform floor by a passage on the same floor as the lobby. This lobby is the second smallest lobby in the former MTR network, second only to Xinao Station.

In terms of the Customer Service Center, the MTR was responsible for arranging the station supervisor to be on duty at the Customer Service Center from the initial stage of the station’s opening to 2005. Until 2005, due to the opening of Disneyland Resort Line and the opening of AsiaWorld Expo Station, MTR was short of manpower at that time, so MTR outsourced staff from Causeway Bay Station to arrive at the Customer Service Center at this station, and the outsourcer will arrange a customer service director to be on duty at the Customer Service Center.
