Light Rail Route 751P is within the Tin Shui Wai area of Route 751 as a shuttle service operating between Tin Shui Wai and Tin Yat, passing through Chung Fu, Tin Shui Wai Town Center, and Tin Tsz, only providing service from Monday to Friday Peak Hours. The current Route 751P is the second-generation service, and the route is the same as that of the Route 751 in Tin Shui Wai. Unlike the base route, it provides a connection to the Tuen Ma Line for residents of Chung Fu, Chestwood and Tin Tsz. In addition, as a Light Rail route, it also effectively alleviates overcrowding of the Tin Shui Wai section of the main route, and Routes 705 and 706 during peak hours.

History[]

As Route 751 is the only Light Rail route between Tin Shui Wai and Tuen Mun, and passes through Tuen Mun Town Centre and many large shopping malls and residences in Tin Shui Wai, Tuen Mun Hospital, it is a critical route with high ridership. As many students rely on this route to travel to/from school alongside those needing to access Tuen Mun Hospital, the base route is often busy as well. In addition, many residents living in Tin Shui Wai often travel between their homes and Tin Shui Wai Station where they can interchange with the Tuen Ma Line, which often results in overcrowding during peak hours. As Route 751 is operated with both one and two car trains, one car trains can often get full within the first few stops or at Tin Shui Wai Station. Thus, Route 751P was created to ease overcrowding and provide additional service within Tin Shui Wai during peak hours.

Trains 187 and 188: Tin YatSiu Hong

Background:

  • During rush hours in the morning, there is a high demand from Hong Shui Kiu to Lam Tei Station to Siu Hong, Routes610, 614, 615, 751are often full on this section, effective February 2021, MTR will arrange runs 187', 188' as extended to Siu Hong in the morning peak hour to relieve overcrowding on this section, and provide more departures for passengers in Tin Shui Wai to go from Hang Mei Tsuen to Siu Hong.
  • On September 1st, 2022: Route507Pwas put into service, MTR arranged train sequence 188 to arrive at Siu Hong Station and then go directly to Route507P; although the run number on the 507P line was changed to 423 at the end of the same month, this arrangement is still maintained.
  • Starting from September 5th of the same year, MTR arranged train sequence 187 to run on Route615after arriving at Siu Hong.

Run 187's arrangements:

  1. 751: Departs from Ho Tin Stop and changes to this route after arriving at Tin Yat
  2. 751P: From Tin Yat to Siu Hong, the route is the same as that of 751
  3. 751P: No Passenger via Kei Lun and Siu Hong to Lam Tei Stop, then diverted to 751
  4. 751: Depart from Landi Stop, change to this route after arriving at Tin Yat
  5. 751P: From Tin Yat to Siu Hong, the route is the same as that of 751, then be taken out of service (return to depot).
  • Because the automated announcement system cannot identify trains carrying passengers on short turn routes, real time arrival displays and the Next Train function in MTR Mobile will display this service as bound to Yau Oi. Automated announcements will not be broadcast once the external displays are signed as a non-numbered short turn, although the driver will manually make announcements to remind passengers.

Run 142: Tin WingSiu Hong

Due to the morning peak hours, there is a high demand from Hung Shui Kiu to Lam Tei Stop to Siu Hong Stop, Routes 610, 614, 615 and 751 are often full on this section, so MTR will sometimes arrange one train from Route 706 to clear passengers at Tin Shui Wai and become a special through trip to Siu Hong while returning to the depot during morning rush hours, with an aim to ease the overcrowding on this section and provide a more frequent service for passengers in Tin Shui Wai to go to Hang Mei Tsuen and Siu Hong.

Car arrangements:

  1. 706: Depart from Tin Shui Wai Stop at about 07:15, and change to this route after arriving at Tin Wing
  2. 751P: From Tin Wing to Siu Hong, the route is the same as 751 (will not be a numbered route and signed as Siu Hong)
  • Because the next stop and GPS system on board trains does not have non-numbered shuttle/short turn route diversions programmed, the MTR Mobile app and real time displays will not display arrival information correctly. Automated announcements also will not function when the train signed for a non-numbered short turn route, although the operator will manually broadcast announcements as necessary.

Run 423: Tin YatTuen Mun Ferry Pier (via Ching Chung, Choi Yee Bridge)

Due to peak hours in the morning, there is a high demand from Hung Shui Kiu to Lam Tei Stop to Siu Hong, 610 Line , 614, 615, 751 is often Full on this section. Effective February 2021, one train on this line will be extended to Siu Hong in the peak hours in the morning to alleviate overcrowding on this section, and provide more departures for passengers in Tin Shui Wai serving Hang Mei Tsuen to Siu Hong Stop. Later, in response to507P being put into service in September 2022, MTR arranged train number 188 to arrive at Siu Hong Stop, although it did not carry passengers between Lam Tei and Siu Hong, where it would interline to route 507P. This was later changed to carry passengers between these two stops.

Run arrangements:

  1. 751: Depart from Ho Tin Stop and change to this route after arriving at Tin Yat
  2. 751P: From Tin Yat to Siu Hong, the route is the same as that of 751, to Siu Hong and then changed to 507P line
  3. 507P: Around 07:40, depart from Platform 2 of Siu Hong Stop, via Qingsong, Tin King And Daxing South to Tuen Mun Pier. However, in actual operation, after arriving at platform 2 of Tin King Stop, change to the 507 line
  4. 507: Follow the original route to Tuen Mun Ferry Pier, after arriving at Tuen Mun Ferry Pier, we will change to other routes according to the situation
  • Because the public address system cannot identify short turn services that carry passengers, arrival displays and MTR Mobile's Next Train function will show the route 751/507/507P interline as a special departure to Yau Oi. When the train is running between Tin Yat and Siu Hong, the route display will be signed as a non-numbered shuttle/short turn route. A banner will also be displayed showing the interline sequence underneath the front LED/flip dot display. The operator will make announcements as deemed fit although automated announcements will be broadcast when the train is signed as a numbered route.
