East Tsim Sha Tsui Station (East Tsim Sha Tsui Station) is a MTRstation located in the busy city of Yau Tsim Mong District, Tsim Sha Tsui. On October 24th 2004, the Template:Tsim Sha Tsui branch line opened to opened, which until August 15, 2009, was the southern terminus of the East Rail Line.
On August 16, 2009, the Kowloon Southern Line was opening to traffic, East Tsim Sha Tsui Station has since become an intermediate station on Tuen Ma Line. At the same time, the MTR merged this station and Tsim Sha Tsui Station into a single station management, and the station control room was also merged into one. Station staff sometimes need to go back and forth between two stations to handle station affairs.
The "Tsim Sha Tsui Interchange Tunnel" connecting East Tsim Sha Tsui Station and Tsim Sha Tsui Station is for passengers to transfer to and from the Tsuen Wan Line, and the public can also conveniently commute to and from various places in the area. Since the pedestrian tunnel is in the unpaid area, passengers cannot use a QR code or a single-ride ticket to transfer between the two stations; if they transfer by Octopus or Urban Ticket, they need to go out of the gate first, then tap in again.
East Tsim Sha Tsui Station has a long name, East Rail Line Mid-Life Refurbishment train shows "E.TST" on the front electric plate, and the PIDS (the old model at that time) on the SP1900 and the platform displayed "E.Tsimshatsui" (while the "Railway Vision" PIDS could display full English name). It is worth mentioning that this station, like Lok Ma Chau Station, is one of the few East Rail stations that was not called a "station" when it was under the jurisdiction of Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation.
This station is currently the only station that has changed its routes the most times, a total of 4 times (Template:Kowloon Canton Railway/East Rail Line→West Rail Line→Tuen Ma Line).
Station symbol[]
East Tsim Sha Tsui Station uses beige as the main color. The walls and columns of the platform and lobby are all made of beige baked lacquer boards, while the station signs are made of yellow.
Station structure[]
The main area of East Tsim Sha Tsui Station is about 300 meters long and 35 meters wide, extending from Middle Road to Middle Road Children's Playground, Chatham Road South and Wing On Plaza. The station concourse is located under Wing On Plaza Garden, about 16 meters below ground level.

Platform[]
Before the opening of Kowloon Southern Line, East Tsim Sha Tsui Station was the only underground station on the East Rail Line, with two platforms arranged in a island platform design. Both were heading towards Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau at that time. There are two sets of 12-car-long platform screen doors on the platform. East Tsim Sha Tsui Station had the longest platform screen door platform in the world when it opened. It is also the only station on the East Rail Line with platform screen doors.
In response to the opening of the Kowloon Southern Line on August 16 2009, the West Rail Line was extended to Hung Hom (now extended to Wu Kai Sha as the Tuen Ma Line) via the Template:Tsim Sha Tsui Branch Line) terminus, East Rail Line back again to Hung Hom is the terminus at the southern end of the urban area, and there would be no East Rail Line before the opening of the cross-harbour section that an East Rail Line has a platform screen door. Since May 15, 2022, the Hung Hom, Exhibition Station and Admiralty stations on the East Rail Line all have platform screen doors.
Platform 1: Tuen Ma Line to Wu Kai Sha (door on the right)→ ←Platform 2: Tuen Ma Line to Tuen Mun (door on the right) |
After the West Rail Line extension, there is no need to use the entire 12-car platform as trains consist of a maximum of 8 cars per train, so there are spaces for two cars at the beginning and end of the East Tsim Sha Tsui Station where the platform has been closed-off to passengers.
Lobby[]
The lobby of East Tsim Sha Tsui Station is located above the platform, and there are toilets for passengers in the gate area. A total of three locations in the lobby are connected to the pedestrian tunnel system.

Tsim Sha Tsui Interchange Tunnel[]
East Tsim Sha Tsui Station has a number of pedestrian tunnels connecting Tsim Sha Tsui Station (Template:Tsun Wan Line), Middle Road, Mody Road, Hanoi Road, Tsim Sha Tsui and East Tsim Sha Tsui and other areas, the tunnel system is named "Tsim Sha Tsui Interchange Subway" (Tsim Sha Tsui Interchange Subway)[2], from Mody Road, Pak Lan Heen Road and The Middle Road consists of three sections of pedestrian tunnels. There are five sections of moving walkways with a total length of 330 meters in the two pedestrian tunnels of Mody Road and Blenheim Avenue, which can shorten the time between the two stations from 9 minutes to about 6 minutes, making transfer passengers more comfortable. Convenient and comfortable.
For easy identification, the pedestrian tunnel system is divided into three areas: red, yellow, and green. Most of the exits connected to the ground are equipped with elevators to facilitate the entry and exit of those in need.
Middle Road Pedestrian Subway Extension[]
Under the Kowloon Southern Line project, Kowloon-Canton Railway Company invested 215 million yuan to build a 240-meter-long pedestrian tunnel in September 2007, linking East Tsim Sha Tsui Station with Tsim Sha Tsui Station The "Middle Road Pedestrian Subway" extends westward from the Kowloon Hotel to Kowloon Park Drive, and connects to two existing government pedestrian subways to facilitate commuting between Tsim Sha Tsui Ferry Pier and Canton Road Hotel and Shopping District and other places. [3][4]
It only takes 9 minutes for passengers to walk from Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel to East Tsim Sha Tsui Station, 10 minutes from Silver Harbor Centre, and from World Financial Center It takes only 11 minutes to depart. [5]
Export[]
When East Tsim Sha Tsui Station was opened that year, KCRC in order to prevent passengers from confusing Tsim Sha Tsui Station connected by pedestrian tunnels and the exit of East Tsim Sha Tsui Station, the exit number of East Tsim Sha Tsui Station starts with J Prepared and reserved Exit H for the future new exit of Tsim Sha Tsui Station (currently the station's International Plaza exit). In addition, like Central Station, there is no English letter I and O word exit, so as not to be confused with the number 1 (one) and 0 (zero) Confused.

Station Ticketing[]
Passengers holding Octopus (including Enhanced Monthly Pass), after exiting the gate at East Tsim Sha Tsui Station and re-entering the gate at Tsim Sha Tsui Station, can enjoy a fare reduction. The fare for transfers at other transfer stations (without gates) is the same (including taking the East Rail LineFirst Class journey). Passengers who use MTR Metropolitan Ticket exit the gate at Tsim Sha Tsui Station and re-enter the gate at Tsim Sha Tsui Station. exit gate) with the same number of rides. If you use one-way ticket (including free one-way ticket, artistic element ticket and commemorative ticket, you need to buy tickets to East Tsim Sha Tsui Station at the departure station Then buy a ticket to the destination station at Tsim Sha Tsui Station. The total fare will be higher than transferring at other transfer stations. (Free one-way ticket, Artistic element ticket and Commemorative ticket may need to use two of the above tickets and deduct the journey twice.)
If you use Octopus or MTR Metropolitan Ticket to transfer, you must meet the following conditions to get the fare reduction, otherwise it will be counted as two separate journeys:
- Transfer time outside Paid Area is less than 30 minutes (excluding the use of Disneyland Resort Line Monthly Pass involving Disneyland Resort Station journey.)
- Non-transit driving
- No other means of transportation
- No more than 9 other transactions with Octopus between entry and exit gates
- Use the same Octopus or MTR City Ticket
- MTR Metropolitan Ticket travel within the range of use
- No more than 1 trip in the middle of the journey (including this trip, no more than 2 trips are allowed before Gate Area Merge)
This ticketing measure has been implemented since the merger of the two railways. After the merger of gate areas, the Paid Areas of the remaining three transfer stations have been connected. However, since the KCRC had an agreement with the Hong Kong government before the merger of the two railways, the pedestrian tunnel connecting the two stations should be opened to the public and should not be classified as a toll zone. Therefore, the toll area of East Tsim Sha Tsui Station cannot be connected with that of Tsim Sha Tsui Station, so the above measures have to be kept at this station.
MTR Metropolitan Ticket, Tuen Mun-Hung Hom Monthly Pass Enhanced Version, Sheung Shui/Wu Kai Sha-East Tsim Sha Tsui Monthly Pass Enhanced Version and some MTR commemorative tickets are applicable to this station.

Station History[]
The past service details and station facilities of this station are listed in detail in the "Past Station Information" subpage of this entry.
Early Planning[]
1970's General Report on Collective Transport Planning mentioned a station named "'Mariner" (Mariner) as Template:East Kowloon Line's Intermediate Station, which is also connected to "Tsim Sha Tsui Station" (Tsim Sha Tsui Station), is Template:Hong Kong-Kowloon Line of the interm stop.

East Kowloon LineIn 1994, KCR published "Railway Development Strategy" , which re-proposed the line between in order to relieve the then MTR Kwun Tong Line and Template:Kowloon Canton Railway at the only interchange station at the time: Kowloon Tong Station.
Later, the government proposed in the "Railway Development Strategy 2000" that Hung Hom Station become Template:Kowloon Canton Railway, KCR West Rail, Template:East Kowloon Line (ie Sha Tin to Central LinkTai Wai to Hung Hom section) and the terminus of the fourth cross-harbour railway (ie Sha Tin to Central Link cross-harbour section). When East Tsim Sha Tsui Station is completed, it will be an extension of the Template:East Rail Template:Tsim Sha Tsui Branch Linestation; when Kowloon Southern Line is completed, West Rail will be Hung Hom Station is the terminal station in the south, and East Tsim Sha Tsui Station will become one of the stations of Kowloon Southern Line at that time. [9]
Station Engineering[]
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Company started the construction of Tsim Sha Tsui Branch Line and East Tsim Sha Tsui Station in December 2000. The authorities expect that after the branch line is opened to traffic, the pedestrian flow in the area will increase. The "'Tsim Sha Tsui Interchange Subway" (Tsim Sha Tsui Interchange Subway) will be built during the period, which consists of three sections of tunnels: Mody Road, Blenheim Avenue and Middle Road. Some sections are equipped with pedestrian conveyor belts , which is convenient for transfer passengers to go directly to and from the two stations. Pedestrians can also go directly to and from the central part of Tsim Sha Tsui, East Tsim Sha Tsui and the south of the Salisbury Road through the tunnel.
This pedestrian tunnel is one of the major infrastructure projects commissioned by the KCRC to be constructed by the government. It is equipped with an air-conditioning system and moving walkways. The Mody Road section was first opened on September 19, 2004.
Station Enabled[]
October 17, 2004 is the open day of this station, and the fare income from this station and Hung Hom Station on that day was donated to charity.
KCRC announced on October 22, 2004 that the Tsim Sha Tsui Branch Line costing HK$4.1 billion was officially opened at 3:00 pm on October 24, and a ceremony was held at East Tsim Sha Tsui Station on the morning of the same day[10], the station was officially opened and became the new terminus of the KCR
East Tsim Sha Tsui Station had a KCR Customer Service Center at the beginning of its opening, but it was closed in September 20 2005 due to the low usage and KCR’s plan to open a hotline center.

Merger of two irons
December 2nd 2007 the Merger of the two railways happended, and MTR held a handover ceremony and departure ceremony for the first passenger train at this station. From then on, Octopus users can enjoy fare reduction by transferring between Tsim Sha Tsui Station and East Tsim Sha Tsui Station. Holders of one-way ticket, as in the past, need to use the ticket to exit the gate at one station and then walk to another station, and buy a new one-way ticket to continue the journey.
In September 28th 2008, the Gate area merger happened, except for a small number of program changes to the turnaround turnstiles at this station, there was no major modification or even dismantling. MTR put up notices at this station and the Tsim Sha Tsui Station platform to remind passengers that single one-way ticket cannot transfer to the station here.
Template:Kowloon Southern Line opens to traffic
Template:Kowloon Southern Line was opened to traffic on August 16, 2009. This station was changed to an intermediate station of the West Rail Line, and the platform number was also changed to match West Rail Line platform numbering arrangement.
On the eve of the opening of the MTR (August 16th early morning), the project was to be carried out, and the last train on East Rail Line leaving Hung Hom Station southbound was brought forward to 0:30, and all southbound trains during the period would stop service at Mong Kok East. The MTR arranged MTR Shuttle Bus to provide free shuttle bus service to the above three stations that night to ease the affected passengers.

Since Template:Kowloon Southern Line will not set up Canton Road Station in the end, KCR will further strengthen the pedestrian connection facilities between East Tsim Sha Tsui Station and Canton Road area, and implement the construction of the "Middle Road Pedestrian Tunnel Extension Section" , to extend the Middle Road Subway from the Kowloon Hotel to the existing Peking Road Subway and Kowloon Park Drive Subway. The extension of the tunnel is about 240 meters in length, equipped with air-conditioning system, moving walkways, and an elevator leading to the outside of the Kowloon Hotel. The KCRC will also improve the Kowloon Park Drive pedestrian tunnel, add an elevator at the exit next to the YMCA to replace the original ramp, and build an escalator. The relevant works started in September 2007 [11] [12].
The extension of the Middle Road Pedestrian Subway together with the new L5, L6 exits, and L3 exit lifts were officially opened to the public on February 10, 2010, further improving the pedestrian passage facilities in the Tsim Sha Tsui area. [13]
