  • 1982: The first section of electrification project on the KCR British Section completed. Electrified train services between Kowloon Station and Sha Tin Station commenced, and the first batch of electrified train also commenced service on the same day.
  • 2022: The Mid-Life Refurbished Train (MLR) running on the East Rail Line retires. The last 12-car train departed from Hung Hom at 1pm sharp, and arrives at Sha Tin Station platform 1 at 1:25pm. The train departed from the platform at 3pm heading towards Ho Tung Lau Depot and retired. The retirement of MLR Trains coincides with the commencement date of the first-generation electrified trains.
