1955: The Kowloon-Canton Railway Bureau invited the Governor of Hong Kong, Sir Grantham Grantham, and his wife, Ms. Mulan, to conduct the opening ceremony of the first two diesel locomotives at Tsim Sha Tsui Railway Station.
1962: Diesel locomotives on the Kowloon-Canton Railway (British section) completely replaced coal-fired steam locomotives.
