2020: MTR was originally scheduled to switch to the new Signalling System for the East Rail Line on the next day. The newly purchased MTR East Rail Line Hyundai Rotem Rolling Stock were to be put into service gradually starting from the same day, and providing services at the same time as the existing MTR Mid-Life Refurbishment Trains on the East Rail Line. The MTR IKK-Train was originally scheduled to carry passengers on the East Rail Line for the last time on that day. However, the MTR Corporation suddenly held a press conference and stated that it would need to postpone the opening date of the new signalling system and the 9-car trains, so the MTR IKK-Train on the East Rail Line continued to run until February 5th, 2021.
